About two weeks ago, following a recommendation from the Shin Bet,  the IDF released senior Hamas official Issa al-Ja’abari from administrative detention after nine months. Al-Ja’abari is a close relative of the late Hamas Chief of Staff Ahmed Ja’abari and was formerly the Minister of Regional Government in the Palestinian Authority.

A HaKol Yehudi investigation reveals that al-Ja’abari  expressed support for the Oct. 7th massacre and the Hamas terrorists who perpetrated it on his Facebook account. However, the authorities declined to charge him for for this and instead released him.

On the morning of Simchat Torah Oct. 7th, at the start of the massacre, al-Ja’abari shared a verse from the Koran about war, encouraging Muslims to enter battle while trusting in Allah and promising that they would defeat their enemies. This was interpreted by many of his Facebook friends as an explicit statement in support of the Hamas massacre coming from his religious perspective and authority.

The day after the massacre, he expressed support for his relative, a terrorist from Gaza who was among the first to infiltrate Kibbutz Nahal Oz and was reportedly involved in the killing and kidnapping of a soldier. Al-Ja’abari sent condolences to other relatives from Gaza and praised the terrorist: "They are the moon and the heart of this nation; with their blood they wove a garment of glory and pride, and we are nothing compared to them, nothing.”

Ja’abari was detained at the beginning of the war and was recently released without charges being filed against him neither for incitement nor for his support of the massacre or his membership in the terrorist organization Hamas.  Charges filed in similar circumstances often lead to prison sentences of several years.

Recently, the Shin Bet has started releasing many terrorists who were detained through administrative detention at the start of the conflict. This is despite the fact that many could have been charged for membership in terrorist organizations and support for terrorism, charges that would have caused them to remain in prison for prolonged periods.
