After years of allegations, investigations, and publications on the connections between Hamas and Ra’am and its affiliates the Corporations Authority  announced that it has initiated dissolution proceedings against two nonprofits affiliated with Ra’am. The nonprofits have been given three weeks to respond. This follows a ruling by the Tel Aviv District Court establishing that the groups were suspected of terror financing and had ties with Hamas.

Following a complaint by the Choosing Life Forum and after numerous investigations by many including HaKol HaYehudi, Kalman Libskind of Ma'ariv, Avishay Grinzaig on Channel 11 and Erel Segal on Channel 14, the Corporations Authority issued a statement on Tuesday morning (April 16th) stating that they had conducted an investigation into the Support 48 nonprofit and the Humanitarian Acts nonprofit.

“The findings raised concerns of improper conduct – including that the associations transferred funds or collaborated with foreign groups declared as terror organizations, used assets for purposes not in accordance with the advancement of the association's approved goals, and other problems,” the statement read. “Given the above, the authority sent the associations a preliminary notice before commencing dissolution proceedings pursuant to Section 50(b) of the Nonprofits Law, 1980. Additionally, the authority rejected the associations' requests for good governance certificates for 2024.”

Responses

From the Choosing Life Forum: "The decision to dissolve the Ra’am nonprofits for supporting terror organizations is a major victory for the Choosing Life Forum, which was the first to expose the ties between Ra’am and Hamas. That a party who funds terror could enter the Knesset and even serve in a coalition government should concern every Israeli. We hope that the State Prosecutor's Office, the Shin Bet, and the Israeli Police will take action against all the relevant parties. We demand that every Zionist party, including those who participated in a coalition with Ra’am, declare that they will no longer cooperate with the party in light of these new facts. We at the Forum will continue  fighting to expose the truth until all Hamas supporters are brought to justice. This fight is in our blood. We will not forgive those who funded terror that killed our loved ones, and we certainly will not accept terror supporters in the Knesset."

MK Limor Son Har-Melech said: "I commend the Corporation Authority’s decision to dissolve the terror group Support 48 following the findings of the Choosing Life Forum of bereaved families and the Ad Kan organization. Two weeks ago, together with other colleagues, I initiated hearings in the Knesset’s National Security Committee demanding answers on why members of the Ra’am party and its affiliates have not yet been investigated for their ties to terror. I will continue to insist that the State Prosecutor's Office and the police investigate those behind these groups and their financial support for terror. Even those who ignored us out of political considerations can no longer claim that the Ra’am party, which supports terror, can be part of a future government."

Minister Betzalel Smotrich wrote: "We warned about the Ra’am party and Mansour Abbas’s connections to terror, which have now been confirmed. We knew this all along, and that is why we refused to be part of a government with them. We thank the Corporations Authority, which did exceptional work here. Special thanks to Herzl and Merav Hagag, the parents of Shirel who was murdered, for leading this righteous struggle with remarkable determination and perseverance."

Investigations by HaKol HaYehudi:

In our investigations, we uncovered connections between “Support 48" and the Hamas-affiliated Turkish organization, Hir Ummah. From 2020-2023, Support 48 transferred over $580,000 to the  Turkish Hamas-affiliate.

We determined that the relationship began as early as 2016, and it appears that millions were transferred to the Hamas-affiliate in prior years. Members of Support 48 visited Turkey every few months to meet with leaders of the Hamas-affiliate, and they even jointly organized summer camps for Syrian children who fled to Turkey.

These camps, called "Al-Quds Camps,” contained incitement against Israel. At one event, a sheikh encouraged the children to march on Jerusalem with weapons, saying that the future is in Gaza’s tunnels and not Oslo’s tunnels. The children were taught about the right of return and sang nationalist songs.

We also exposed the relationship between Support 48 and Amin Abu Rashad, a member of Hamas's European leadership who in 2013 was declared a terrorist by the Minister of Defense. Abu Rashad is currently under arrest in the Netherlands after the “Ad Kan” organization and Zvi Yehezkeli exposed his activities in an undercover series.

Our investigation found documentation of Support 48’s members' interactions with Abu Rashad both in 2016 and in 2022 when Ra’am was serving as part of Israel’s governing coalition.
