Tonight Arabs from Hawara posted graffiti on the road leading to the village. Among the images was a swastika, Hamas and Palestinian flags, and slogans supporting Hamas Military Commander Mohammed Deif.
This is not the first time that graffiti incitement appeared in Hawara, but this time it didn’t pass quietly. After the graffiti was mentioned on social media, a group of Jewish residents from the region came and protested demanding that the IDF destroy the wall on which the graffiti was posted.
Samaria Regional Council Head, Yossi Dagan, put out a statement in support of the protesters. “I demand that the government and security forces respond as is appropriate to Nazi incitement and immediately destroy the wall on the road in Hawara! The time for the policy of terror appeasement is over!,” he said. Shortly thereafter, the IDF blocked the road leading to Hawara to Jewish vehicles (which also serves as the main road to several Jewish communities), to prevent them from attending the protest. Several dozen Jewish residents attempted to reach the protest also from the other direction of the village.
The Arabs in Hawara made an announcement on the muezzin sound system in the village and quickly removed the graffiti from the wall.
