According to a report by Amir Ettinger and Yehuda Shlezinger in Israel Hayom, the Shin Bet asked that the Corporations Authority delay the announcement of the proceedings against Ra’am affiliated until after Ramadan, fearing that the announcement could be "destabilizing.”
After a report by Avishay Grinzaig's on Sunday (April 14th) that the Corporations Authority initiated proceedings to disband the nonprofits Support 48 and the Humanitarian Acts Association, journalists from Israel Hayom now report that following a request by the Shin Bet, the announcement of the proceedings was delayed until after Ramadan.
The process to dissolve the groups actually began two weeks ago, but the Corporations Authority followed an unofficial request from the Shin Bet to wait to publish the information until after Ramadan.
This delay highlights the views of the defense establishment, which has provided Ra’am near complete immunity.

According to a statement released by the Corporations Authority on Monday (April 15th), the proceedings were initiated against the Ra’am Affiliates due to a “concern of improper conduct – including that the nonprofits transferred funds to foreign groups that were declared as terrorist organizations, that they used assets for purposes that did not follow the groups’ stated goals, and more."
Following the announcement of the proceedings, the Ra’am party released a statement saying: "The same entities that fueled Hamas with suitcases of dollars and endangered the security of all Israeli citizens, Jews and Arabs alike, are now hurling false accusations and lies in order to shirk their responsibility for the tragedy. Since the first debate over Ra’am entering into a coalition, a continuous and aggressive campaign has been waged against us by extreme right-wing elements, with the aim of stifling the political integration of Arab citizens. The actions today are being taken against humanitarian nonprofit groups that operate transparently and in accordance with the law. We are confident that in the end it will be shown that the groups acted lawfully."
The Corporations Authority responded to a request for comment saying, "The Corporations Authority does not provide information on its internal decisions related to oversight.”
